Privacy Policy

Your privacy is paramount to us. This policy outlines how Tab Limiter handles information when you use our browser extension and related services.

01. Introduction

Tab Limiter is designed to be a "Privacy-First" tool. We believe that your browsing habits are your business, not ours. Most of our processing happens locally on your machine, and we never sell your data to third parties.

02. Information We Collect

We differentiate between "Personal Data" and "Usage Data". Here is exactly what we see:

  • Configuration Settings We store your preferred tab limits and whitelist settings locally via Chrome's storage API.
  • Extension Telemetry To improve our service, we collect anonymous usage statistics such as total tabs closed and extension version.
  • Browsing History We do NOT collect, store, or transmit your URL history or the content of the pages you visit.

03. Browser Permissions

To function correctly, Tab Limiter requires the following permissions from your browser:

"tabs"

Used to count active tabs and close them when the limit is exceeded.

"storage"

Used to save your custom settings and whitelist sync across your devices.

04. Data Security

While most data is local, any synchronized data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of data.
